I enjoyed reading Blood Orange which I wrote about. It’s been a forever since I wrote a review on a book so bringing that back to the blog was fun. I also read Archer’s Voice and 101 Essays which I'm still reading but some of chapters have felt repetitive although she has some good thoughts and tips worth imbibing.
skincare finds, I'm trying to find new skincare products since Beekman (Beekman is very gentle and mainly a goat milk-forward brand) hasn't proven effective in fading the dark spots on my face so I'm currently trying the Medicube Kojic Acid Mask. It might be helpful to use stronger products to achieve my goals then go back to gentler ones (Beekman or other) after. I’m also giving Caudalie products a try and want to add Biologique Recherche but this is on the pricier side but hey if it works…
teas on rotation, haven't really been in my usual tea mood but I found a new gut tea from Indigo while in Canada and its been lovely; I'm loving loose teas better because they taste more potent. I did get to enjoy Chick-fil-A iced tea and damn do I miss that crack but I’m also glad (sometimes) it’s not in close proximity to me lol. Also what’s with Canada and the lemon iced teas??
I've enjoyed many movies in the past 3 months. I watched Michael which I LOVED. Jaafar Jackson really did what he had to do and all the mems about Joe lmao, The Devil Wears Prada 2 — I think the costume department should be given a bonus cause those looks were toooooo goooood! Send Help was funny and I don't think I've ever watched a thriller and found it funny. Off Campus — good but the hype is a bit much, me thinks. Honestly, I think good acting is back and we need more veterans to come back out and “new blood” on screen. I also recently started watching Bones again :) I forgot how beautifully odd she was. I remember watching Monica on Youtube at Timi’s and we were literally screaming at the TV ahhhahaa.
no art-design spotlight but I did recently start a art-design commentary on Paintmilk’s Instagram stories which I do most Tuesdays. I go digging for tasteful things and analyze why and what I like about them from a art-design lens.
en repetition Before we entered Q2, Ms. Raye released "This Music May Contain Hope" and man did she deliver. What an artist! What AN ALBUM! I cannot pick a favorite, its all on repeat. The musical production is just marvelous :: just delicious to my ears. Then that put me onto her sister, Absolutely whose voice is absolutely divine (God dey create). I've loved No Audience, I Just Don't Know You Yet, No Furniture and Prototype from her album, Paracosm. What a blessed family.
personal highlight We (Paintmilk) started building our first digital product in February and ended the quarter with the first version! If you'd like to be an early player and let's know your thoughts on it, join our mail train.
I can’t forget core memories at my cousin Timi’s sexy sometimes eerie tower, meeting Moyo (who was screaming at the TV with me while watching Monica), seeing my younger brother become semi-independent, seeing my mum be “just a girl” (it’s really eye-opening when you see your parents be less about responsibility and enjoying the fine things in life too), meeting family friends I never got to meet while I was in the US, going to Niagara Falls on a very cold day and the feeling of rain beating my face while freezing, taking family photos, going to a farm and learning about crops, crashing out about the digital game we’ve been building at Paintmilk and seeing Adeoluwakiisi after more than a decade! Oh and the NASA Artemis II mission 🚀. What a life.
Welcome quarter three…let’s play🏑
